Overview:

On behalf of the U.S. Department of Commerce, you are cordially invited to a BIS Compliance Briefing, presented by Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement, Matthew S. Axelrod (bio).

Remarks will provide an update on BIS enforcement policies, actions, voluntary disclosure, and resent measures taken in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Bureau of Industry and Security’s Office of Export Enforcement is at the frontline of protecting national security interests and ensuring sensitive U.S. goods and technologies are not falling into the wrong hands abroad. Over time, the nature of goods and technologies and their relevance to national security threats facing our country have shifted dramatically. Join us for an important update on enforcement priorities and policy changes such as:

• Administrative enforcement changes for export controls and antiboycott programs
• Commerce Department’s efforts to hold Russia accountable
• Impact on the Aerospace sector
• New Academic Outreach initiative
• Examples of recent Charging Letters and Temporary Denial Orders
• Bilateral discussions with Canada Border Services Agency and Global Affairs Canada
